Dr. Vernon Robertshaw, DVM
Dr. Robertshaw graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine in 1978 and has dedicated over 45 years to providing exceptional care in the Elgin County area. With a passion for working with horses and small animals, he also embraces the unique challenges presented by sheep and goats. Growing up on a dairy farm in Oxford County, he developed a deep-rooted connection to animal care from an early age.
A leader in veterinary practices, Dr. Robertshaw has specialized in acupuncture and chiropractic care for more than three decades and is known for his expertise in advanced surgical procedures. Despite his busy schedule, he cherishes his time spent cottaging, where he enjoys the tranquility of nature.

Dr. Kristen Wight, MSc BVMS
Dr. Kristen Wight graduated from the University of Glasgow, Scotland and moved back to Canada to pursue her interest in mixed animal practice. She has a keen interest in senior pain management and preventative medicine. Prior to veterinary school she pursued a master’s degree at the University of Guelph focusing on parasite control in heifers. Dr. Wight enjoys spending her free time hiking or trick training with her Labrador Charley or in the barn with the horses, specifically her senior Roscoe.

Dr. Wayne Carroll, DVM
Dr. Wayne Carroll graduated from the University of Guelph in 1989 and has since developed a strong focus on standardbred track medicine and reproduction. He specializes in large animal veterinary practices, providing comprehensive care tailored to the unique needs of these animals.
When he’s not in the clinic, Dr. Carroll dedicates his time to managing his own standardbred farm, where he applies his expertise in breeding and training. His hands-on experience allows him to nurture and care for his horses, further enhancing his understanding of equine health and performance.
Dr. Carroll’s passion for large animals extends beyond his professional life; he enjoys staying involved in the racing community and is committed to advancing the well-being of equines through both his veterinary practice and his farm operations.

Dr. David Kirby, DVM
Dr. David Kirby is an alumnus of the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. With over 40 years of experience in veterinary medicine, he has shown exceptional dedication and attentiveness, making him a standout medical and surgical practitioner. He currently works part-time at Shedden Veterinary Services.
At home, he is entertained by the playful antics of his cats. His outside interests include breeding and racing standard-bred horses.
Registered Veterinary Technicians

Bre, RVT
Bre joined Shedden Veterinary Services in April 2014 after completing the veterinary receptionist program at Ridgetown College. Her passion for animal care led her to further her education at Seneca College, where she earned her veterinary technician degree. As a registered veterinary technician (RVT) since April 2024, Bre is dedicated to providing exceptional care to her patients. She proudly shares her life with two dogs: Bear, a 10-year-old chocolate lab she adopted while studying at Ridgetown, and Howard, a one-year-old golden retriever she rescued during her final year of veterinary technician school and a cat named George.

Kaycee, RVT
Kaycee joined Shedden Veterinary Services in November 2023. She earned her veterinary technician degree from St. Clair College in 2020 and has proudly been working as a RVT since. Kaycee has dreamed of working with animals since she was a young child and loves creating a safe and comfortable place for your pets. In her free time, she loves spending time with her two dogs and making new memories with her son Noah.

Meghan, RVT
Meghan is a dedicated RVT and graduate of Ridgetown College. When she isn’t working, you can find her hanging out with her family, being a proud hockey mom at the rink, chauffeuring her kids around, or spending time at the cottage. Meghan lives with her husband and their kids, as well as a bouncy hound dog named Levi and a moody cat named Gord.
Veterinary Assistants

Sarah
At a young age, Sarah knew she wanted to work with animals and developed a love for horses. After spending several years working at a thoroughbred breeding farm, Sarah joined our team in 2022. Sarah is a graduate of the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. She is passionate about animal genetics and welfare and aspires to advance her career in veterinary medicine, working with both large and small animals.

Marissa
Marissa is an avid animal lover, likely with more dogs than anyone else. She began her journey in veterinary clinics at a young age and graduated from the University of Guelph with her undergraduate degree in 2007. With experience as a caretaker for racehorses, and small animals she brings enthusiasm and dedication to every aspect of animal care.
Client Care Representatives

Sharon
Sharon joined Shedden Veterinary Services in November 2019, bringing with her a wealth of experience in veterinary medicine that began in 1994 as a kennel attendant and veterinary assistant. After a few years, she shifted her focus to client care, where her passion truly shines. Sharon is a proud pet parent to two dogs, Gabby and Joe, and three cats: Toby, Kori, and Jackie Chan. One of her favorite pastimes is taking Gabby and Joe for walks in the woods, cherishing the time spent with her beloved pets.

Megan
Megan began her journey as an assistant and client care representative in 2015, gaining experience at various clinics in and around London. She joined Shedden Veterinary Services in April 2022, marking her first role at a large animal clinic, where she thrives in the fast-paced, team-oriented environment. In March 2023, she and her husband welcomed their beautiful baby girl. When she’s not busy chasing her daughter around the house, she enjoys family walks with their spirited dog, Kalla, a lively husky/boxer/lab mix.

Nicola
Nicola joined the Shedden team in August 2023 as a CSR. She two dogs, Harley, Rosie and a cat named Rizzo. Nicola can be found in working on her gardens when not at work and is happiest in the great outdoors. Her and her husband like to golf and spending time with their families.

Candy
Candy has been an integral part of the practice since 2001, initially starting as a medical receptionist. With 24 years of experience, she now serves as the accounts receivable and hospital manager, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional client care.
Candy loves spending her free time with her husband and two sons, actively supporting their sports and activities. She is also a proud dog mom to her golden retriever, Daisy. Her dedication to both her family and her work makes her a valued member of the team and a caring parent.
